Why I wanted to be a scare actress

From as early as I can first remember I have always loved scare and horror movies - maybe it's because I could never get the hang of pushing my dolly's pram!

I grew up on the R.L.Stine's Goosebumps fictional books and I loved watching the films.

My favourite was Terror Tower about a sister and brother who were on a tour of the famous Tower of London when all the waxworks and museum statues started to come to life!

It transpired they were Princess Susan and Prince Edward magically sent to the Tower from a fictional time much earlier in history to save them from execution.

It was very hauntung and spooky and I love it even now, although now I also like Chucky too!

When I was a teenager scare mazes and Halloween haunts were just starting to get big in the UK and I went to loads of them.

I loved going round the creepy scare zones not knowing what or who was going to be lurking round the corner next!

I remember one time at the annual Alton Towers' Fright Fest being freaked out by a giant gorilla character that jumped out from under hey near the exit of the scare zone. A great final scary bang that certainly made me run for my life!!

It's all of this early experience as a viewer that made me think, "I want to do this".

I'd been to drama classes since about the age of 7 and got certificates and medals in acting and fairly good grades in drama at high school and college so being an actor seemed the most obvious and natural thing for me to do as a career.

But specialising in being a scare actor is what I really wanted to do as that is something quite different and unique. It's also something I knew I could do and do well.

I have a certain look and size for certain scare characters, so I've been told, hence I usually get cast as creepy doll and child roles. But I have been known to play other roles including little old hags, brassy barmaid characters and a lady of the night!

But one thing's for sure - whatever the part, I've loved them all!! I can't wait until Halloween 2013 to see what new scares are planned at horror attractions in the UK and worldwide.
